Josh Allen

Bass / Guitar Coach

From an early age Josh tirelessly explored various methods of expression. From writing, to drawing, to music he sought to share his thoughts and feelings in ways that words alone could not express. In fourth grade, while watching old school Disney channel original shows he stumbled on a series about a gourd of high school friends that formed a band. He instantly connected with the idea of playing electric guitar. After begging his parents for months for a guitar and lessons, they finally relented. And on his birthday, a bit to his disappointment, they presented him with brand new classical guitar and private lessons with a skilled classical guitarist. This wasn’t exactly the rock star dream he had in mind. But Josh stuck with it and quickly developed a love for classical guitar works. Specifically the Málaga compositions of Francisco Tárrega. He devoured as many of Tárrega’s pieces as he could find culminating in the classic Recuerdos de la Alhambra.

In high school Josh purchased his first electric guitar and found that his classical training translated very well. His playing style was quickly noticed, and while still in high school Josh had the unique opportunity to record, and play with several bands and artists in the Austin area including Fastball, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Randy Rogers, and relatively unknown (at the time!) CCM bands like Caedmon’s Call, Plum, and Audio Adrenaline. While performing with his own group, Josh had the wonderful, but exhausting, experience of touring with and opening for Third Day.

After graduating high school, Josh attended Baylor University on a Jazz Performance scholarship playing upright bass. After graduating with dual majors in Religion and Business Administration, Josh left the music scene to pursue other careers. However, he has remained quite active in the modern church worship scene and today is a highly regarded contracting musician that plays at countless churches and events.
Josh’s real heart and passion though is three fold. Creating, mentoring, and worshipping. He has expanded his creative outlets into other areas including writing and even cooking. He is passionate about training young (in experience not just age) musicians and raising up new generations of worship leaders.
