At the age of four, I was adopted by my dearly loved parents. They brought me from the mountains of Bulgaria in Europe to the mountains of North Georgia
where I grew up. My Bulgarian name was Zdravka Siikova Miteva but, in addition to a new life and new country, I was given a new name: Christiana (But you can call me Chrissy!). I was introduced to drums when I was trying out for one of the few positions in the percussion section of our middle school band. While I did not make it into the percussion section, it didn’t stop me from wanting to play the drums. Shortly thereafter, I was sitting in church with a perfect view of the
drummer during the praise songs. That was when I realized the powerful effect drums can have on music, especially when it came to worship. After that Sunday, at the age of 12, I started my adventure with drums. After one year of self-teaching, I began playing drums for my local church. My desire to learn more and to become a better drummer grew bigger and bigger. In 2012, my youth group went to Student Life Camp where the Brett
Younker Band was leading worship. It was during that week that my eyes and heart were opened up even more about playing drums, especially after meeting the drummer, Paul Whittinghill. A few years later, in 2016, I went to the Passion Conference where I saw, once again, Paul Whittinghill, playing drums during worship. It was during that time when I felt as if my heart was beating out of my chest and my soul was hearing a deep calling to play drums
while leading worship. In that moment, I saw the path God wanted me to take. Ever since then, I have been taught by Paul Whittinghill at Rooted Music
Coaching and have now been playing and leading worship with drums at Passion City Church for two years.
